Arena Sports Academy
Project Description
H&R Construction completed the ARENA Sports Academy in Sioux City, IA, successfully remodeling an existing 60,000 sq. ft. retail store into a recreational sports facility.
This project involved both preconstruction and construction services and we worked closely with the Owner’s group to develop a design and budget to enable their vision to become reality.
The facility now has five basketball/volleyball courts, a wrestling room, dance studio, locker rooms, concessions, and lounge areas, along with an upper-level mezzanine viewing area. One of the many challenges with this project was to “open up” the existing space by removing and relocating structural columns, which we accomplished with detailed planning and engineering.
Additionally, we installed a wooden athletic gym floor over the entire playing surface alongside gym equipment consisting of basketball hoops, divider curtains, volleyball nets, wrestling mats and scoreboards. This equipment, together with many other aspects of the building systems, use state of the art controls to make the facility function as efficiently as possible.
